Huawei Academy at Daystar University recognised
On 6th December 2022, the HOD, Computer Science Department Ms. Zipporah Mwololo received a Rising Star recognition from Huawei for promoting digital awareness among Daystar University students through a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2020 during Covid-19 Pandemic. She received the recognition during a workshop held at Huawei headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi. Also present was the Dean, School of Science, Engineering and Health Prof. Martha Kiarie who gives oversight to the MOU, and Ms. Linah Jumwa from ICT department, a Certified Huawei Trainer.
Farewell Luncheon for Visiting Professors
On Friday 9th December 2022, the Vice-chancellor Prof. Laban P. Ayiro hosted Prof. Dale Johnson and Prof. LeAnn Johnson to a farewell luncheon at Daystar University Nairobi Campus.
DIDS Participates in UN Disability Day Cerebrations
On Saturday 3rd December, Dr. Scholastica Githinji led the Daystar Institute of Disability Studies (DIDS) to participate in the UN Disability Day celebrations held at Joska town in Mavoko Sub-county of Machakos County. The celebrations drew participation from Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWDs) and their caregivers from Machakos County.
Universities urged to support people with disabilities
Prof. Nguru made the remarks on December 5, 2022 while opening the Autism Spectrum workshop hosted by the Daystar Institute of Disability Studies (DIDS). The blended workshop was moderated from Daystar University DAC Auditorium with limited number of in-person participants, while the rest followed the workshop via Zoom.
The Vatican Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya visits Daystar University
On Wednesday November 30, 2022, the Vatican representative of Pope Francis to Kenya, His Excellency Monsignor Bert van Megen, paid a courtesy visit to Daystar University Vice Chancellor Prof. Laban P. Ayiro at the Main Campus Athi River.
Daystar receives a new Chaplain
On December 1, 2022, Daystar University received the new Chaplain at the Main Campus Athi River during the staff chapel service. Rev. John Miano Weche was received by the outgoing Chaplain Rev. Steven Nduto, the DVC Academic, Research and Student Affairs Prof. Faith Nguru, Faculty and staff.
Another Borehole Sank at Main Campus Athi River
On Monday December 5, 2022, Daystar University sank yet another borehole at its Main Campus Athi River in an effort to offset the prevailing challenge of water shortage. This borehole was sunk in partnership with Healing Hands International. Speaking during the ceremony, the DVC- FAP, Prof. Muturi Wachira appreciated HHI for the partnership, saying that the borehole was big blessing to Daystar University as water had been a major challenge at Athi River Campus.
DRGS patents Interuniversity Graduate Students' Forum (Igsf)
On 15th October 2022, the Directorate of Graduate Studies (DRGS) secured the registration of the Interuniversity Graduate Students' Forum (Igsf) as an intellectual property of Daystar University for a period of 10 years. The Igsf patent allows Daystar University to offer advertising services (Class 35), education services (Class 41), and research services (Class 42).
Kütahya Dumlupinar University visits Daystar University Vice Chancellor
On 16th November 2022, Prof. Bünyamin HAN of Kütahya Dumlupinar University in Turkey paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor Prof. Laban Ayiro at Daystar University Nairobi Campus.Â
Prayer Day at Nairobi Campus
At the Nairobi Campus, the prayer day begun with Praise and Worship led by the Daystar Christian Fellowship worship team. In attendance was the Campus Principal Prof. Michael Bowen, the ICT Manager Mr. Solomon Mburu, DUSA Secretary General Peter Desmond Mwine, and other members of staff and students.
Prayer Day at Main Campus Athi River
At the beginning of every semester Daystar University sets aside a day of prayer to commit the semester to the Lord. For the September 2022 semester, that day was Tuesday September 27. Prayers were held at both Nairobi Campus and the Main Campus Athi River, while Evening and Postgraduate students had prayers online on Friday September 30th.
Closing Ceremony for the 2nd Joint Annual Ethics Conference
The 2nd Joint Annual Ethics Conference came to a close today October 30, 2022 following a successful three days of intense scholarly discourse on research ethics. The closing ceremony was addressed by the Deputy Director for Social and Human Sciences programme at the Kenya National Commission for UNESCO (KNATCOM), Ethics of Science and Sports Division, Dr. Orpha Nyakundi.
