Vice Chancellor pushes US Engagements
Prof. Laban P. Ayiro ended the pre-Easter week with a visit to the University of Northwestern where he met the President Dr. Alan Cureton and Prof. Mark Seignious of UNW Radio KTIS. Prof. Seignious was part of the UNW/KTIS team that travelled to Nairobi last June to set up the Daystar University Communication studios.

On March 29, 2022, the Vice-chancellor Prof. Laban P Ayiro launched the Graduate Students Handbook at the Nairobi Campus, DAC Auditorium. In his address, the VC stated that he had set a target of graduating 120 PhDs, 600 Master’s graduates, and raise 25 full professors before ending hie term in office
Workshop on Current Challenges in Media Development
On March 23 – 25, 2022, Daystar University in collaboration with Erich-Brost-Institut together held a 3- day workshop at Daystar University Nairobi Campus for communication scholars from different institutions. The workshop focused on current challenges in media development program
Daystar University Students Win Safaricom PLC Marketing Competition
Three Daystar University students have emerged among the top five winners in the Safaricom PLC Crucible Marketing Competition 2021 edition. The event was organized by Strathmore University Marketing Club, for marketing students in Kenya pursuing either degree or diploma programs.
DLPDI Equips Teachers with Mental Health intervention skills
On Friday, 25th March 2022, The Daystar Leadership and Professional Development Institute (DLPDI) graduated high school teachers upon completion of a week-long training on Mental Health Intervention Skills for Educators. The training attracted teachers from Pangani Girls High School, Friends School Kamusinga and Moi Girls School-Nairobi. The objective of the training was to equip teachers with skills to detect, assess and intervene in mental health cases among students and youth.
TARDA donates 1500 trees to Daystar University
Meanwhile on 24th March 2022, Daystar University received yet another1,500 trees from Tana and Athi River Development Authority (TARDA). The trees were delivered to Athi River Campus by a team of 10 people led by the Managing Director/CEO Mr. Liban Duba.

Since assuming office in 2019, Daystar University 4th Vice- Chancellor Prof. Laban P. Ayiro has always desired to have a University Choir. The dream came true on 24th March 2022 when the Daystar University Choirs was finally unveiled at the Main Campus – Athi River.

Chancellor Preaches at Nairobi and Main Campus Chapels
On Tuesday March 1, the Chapel service speaker at the Main Campus-Athi River was the University Chancellor, Dr. Florence Muindi. She spoke on the topic, ‘To Serve is to Reign,’ Dr. Muindi drew invaluable reflections from her journey in her high school days at the Kenya High. On one, she cited how she watched the likes of Prof. Faith Nguru - Deputy Vice-chancellor, Academic Research and Students Affairs, who carried herself with dignity while selflessly serving as the Deputy School Captain.
Communication Hub welcomes new Shine FM Management Team
The Daystar University communication hub consisting of the student-run newspaper Involvement and radio station, Shine 99.9 FM is now under new leadership.
Sensitizing Workshop for Journalists on Reporting Education Issues.
On February 17, 2022, the Media Council of Kenya organized a workshop to train journalists on reporting education issues at Daystar University Nairobi Campus. Participants were drawn from different media houses in the country. The journalists agreed that most reporting on education is about National exams results, wrangles and scandals at KNUT and TSC among other negative things yet there is so much to be reported on Education.

Prof. Laban P. Ayiro launched his latest book: The Art of Institutional Leadership; Unleashing the Potential of Emotional Intelligence on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC). The book which was published by East African Educational Publishers (E.A.E.P) Limited gives critical guidelines on institutional leadership tracing his leadership journey and highlighting his key achievements.
