Addressing the University community from the Athi River campus before his departure on 3rd August, the Vice-chancellor intimated that his trip would focus on raising funds for student scholarships and capital projects such as sports facilities, construction of a Chapel and the School of Nursing.
Daystar Chess Falcons Team Shines In Nakuru
The year 2020 took away the joy of playing sports physically due to COVID-19 pandemic. While the Chess team resorted to play online, this could not replace the thrill of physical Chess. The Nakuru Open 2021 brought positive vibe as Daystar University sent a team of 8 players: 6 Men and 2 Ladies, under the leadership of Karan Christie who graduated last year. The two-day tournament saw over 120 players from across Kenya converge at the Waterbuck Hotel on 31 st July and 1st August 2021. The game consisted of 7 rounds; the largest and most competitive tourney for the last two years

The Vice-chancellor this morning challenged faculty members to have the "unscratchable itch that would enable Daystar University to penetrate the invisible curtain". Jubilation as Nairobi Campus Communication Studio is dedicated
During the meeting, Daystar US Board members donated Kes12 Mill on the spot while the University of Northwestern in St. Paul’s Minnesota donated studio equipment. Dr. Winnie Mucherah speaks to Faculty on Scholarship, Balance and Health
On Wednesday, 9th June, 2021, Prof. Winnie Mucherah, a Carnegie Fellow from Ball State University, Muncie Indiana facilitated a workshop for faculty and Administrative staff engaged in teaching, on the topic, Scholarship, Balance and Health. During the thanksgiving service, the Vice-chancellor Prof. Laban P. Ayiro thanked the donors for responding generously to the appeal he made during his first Daystar US Board meeting back in 2019
Vice Chancellor Hosts Northwestern University and Daystar US Team
On Wednesday, 9th of June 2021, the Vice-chancellor Prof Laban Ayiro will host guests from Northwestern University, Communication experts and Daystar US who are here on a mission to install equipment in the Communication Studio at the Nairobi Campus and Shine FM at the Main Campus Athi River. The Vice-chancellor will be joined by members of Management as he welcomes and appreciates NWU for donating equipment for the Communication Studios.
Mr. Thomas Okoth Koyier Appointed Member of the National Gender and Equity Commission (NGEC)
On December 21, 2021 Daystar Faculty member in the School of Business and Economics Mr. Thomas Okoth Koyier was appointed, along with others, as a member of the National Gender and Equity Commission (NGEC). Congratulating him during his new year address to staff, the Vice chancellor Prof. Laban Ayiro, charged Mr. Koyier to strengthen and position Daystar University through his appointment.
Daystar University graduates 934 graduands in its 43rd Graduation Ceremony
On Friday 13th November 2020, Daystar University awarded diplomas and conferred degrees to 934 undergraduate and postgraduate students during its 43rd graduation ceremony. The virtual ceremony was transmitted live on the University Facebook page and website from the Daystar Valley Road Campus, DAC Auditorium, with a small audience in attendance in observance of the Covid-19 restrictions.

Graduation Chapel commissions Class of 2020 to the Society
The 2020 graduation chapel took place on Tuesday, 10th November 2020, three days ahead of the 43rd Graduation ceremony. The Chapel Service which was organized by the Chaplaincy department was streamed live from the Nairobi Campus, DAC Auditorium with a limited number of student representatives.
Postgraduate Student Leads Rehabilitation of Maragoli Hills Forest
On 6th November 2020, a Daystar University Postgraduate student, Victor Enzoveri, led the rehabilitation of Maragoli Hills forest in Vihiga County. Among those present included the Permanent Secretary, Maj. General Retired Dr. Gordon Kihalangwa who was also the chief guest, Deputy Governor Dr. Patrick Saisi, Chief Officer Environment Vihiga County, Dr. Boiyo, Western Region Deputy Conservation Officer William Cheptoo, Conservation Officer Vihiga County Mr. Isaac Maiyo, Maragoli Hills CFA members.
East African Educational Publishers Donates Books to Daystar University
On 2nd November, The East African Educational Publishers (EAEP) donated 327 books worth an estimated KES 300,000 to Daystar University. The donation was presented to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Laban Ayiro, by the EAEP Chairman Dr. Henry Chakava. Speaking during the presentation, Dr. Henry Chakava confirmed that the donation marked the genesis of collaboration and interaction between Daystar University and EAEP. Dr. Chakava invited publishable manuscripts from Daystar University.

Despite the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic, Daystar University has continued its operations. Schools and Departments have continued to beat the odds and hold various activities in their respective Schools even though most of the students are continuing with classes, online.
Daystar University Holds January Semester Prayer Day
The January 2020 semester prayer day took place on January 30, 2020 at both Athi River and Nairobi Campuses. The normal activities at the University were put on hold as staff, Faculty and students came together to seek God’s direction for the new semester. At Athi River campus, Rev. Josphat Musili, the resident Chaplain Athi River campus welcomed and introduced the guest speaker, Rev. Robin Mulunda from CITAM Athi River Assembly.
Acorn Holdings Limited Donates 4,000 tree seedlings to Daystar
On 22nd October, the Vice-chancellor, Prof. Laban Ayiro received 4,000 tree seedlings from the Chief Operating Officer of Arcon Holdings Limited Mr. Peter Njenga, toward the University’s tree planting initiative. The presentation took place at the Main Campus, Athi River.
