On Tuesday March 22, Daystar University received 200 trees from University Fund. Presenting the trees to Daystar University was Ms. Joyce Makewa, representing PS Ministry of Education, Amb. Simon Nabukwesi and CEO of the University Fund, Mr. George Oduor.
The trees were received on behalf of the Vice-chancellor by Prof. Abraham Waithima, accompanied by the University Chaplain, Rev. Steven Nduto, and Projects Manager, Mrs. Coretta Ndunda.
Speaking on behalf of the VC, Prof. Waithima thanked Education Permanent Secretary Amb. Nabukwesi and the CEO University Fund for donating trees to Daystar University. He explained that Daystar University is committed to offering quality education and noted that the University admits Government-sponsored students. He added that the University treats all its students equally and this is evidenced by the fact that even the Government sponsored students are considered for scholarships like any other Daystar student.
Prof. Waithima reiterated that the beautification of the Athi River Campus that began three years ago included fruit trees among others.
Mr. Oduor committed to continue partnering with Daystar University in support of higher education. “Through tree planting, we are continuing the aspect of creation mandated by God,” he said.
The University Chaplain, Rev. Steven Nduto said that the garden or Eden was beautifully pleasant and that our duty was to make our environment pleasant.
