Since assuming office in 2019, Daystar University 4th Vice- Chancellor Prof. Laban P. Ayiro has always desired to have a University Choir.
The dream came true on 24th March 2022 when the Daystar University Choirs was finally unveiled at the Main Campus – Athi River.
The choir made its entrance during the Thursday Chapel service. Comprising mainly students, the Choir is co-directed by Mr. Moses Alubala and Pastor Jacqueline Wasonga, both faculty in the Department of Language and Performing Arts, School of Communication. The choir kept the congregation on their feet dancing to the sweet melodies.
Since the auditioning which took place on 8th - 9th February at Athi River Campus, and 17th February at the Nairobi Campus, the choir has been under the spirited training of the two co-directors.
As she introduced the choir, the HoD Language and Performing Ms. Brenda Wambua noted that the Daystar Choir is a prayer answered. She was happy that the choir began its journey with a worship service. Ms. Wambua called on those talented in music to take music as a minor, saying that training enables one to worship God in an organized manner.
“When they call on us, let us support them. When they need our prayers, let us pray for them. May their music be an exaltation to God,” said the Ag. DVC-ARSA Prof. Martha Kiarie.
The choir was prayed for and dedicated to God by the Chaplaincy supported by clergy in the congregation.
