[Athi River: 12th May 2026] Freshmen attended the May 2026 Orientation Chapel at the Main Campus Athi River on their second day of reporting.
The chapel service was attended by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Laban Ayiro, DVC-ARSA, Prof. Samuel Muriithi, members of the Management, Senate, the Doulos Orientation Team, staff and the new students.
Introducing the Chaplaincy staff and Daystar Christian Fellowship (DCF) leaders, the University Chaplain, Rev. Miano Weche, encouraged the students to come out and discuss issues with Chaplaincy team for spiritual nurture, noting that chaplaincy is ready to help them.
The Assistant Chaplain Nairobi Campus, Pastor Felix Simotwo encouraged the new students to plug into different Daystar Christian Fellowship (DCF) sub-teams.
He urged the students to serve God through their talents and abilities, encouraging them to find a community where they can belong.
The Dean, Students Engagements at Wheaton College, Dr. Steve Iverest preached a sermon titled “Life of a student as pilgrimage with God.
He noted that pilgrimage means walking with God, not just toward Him. “God is not waiting at the finish line for students to get their lives together; He is already present in classrooms, conversations, and questions students ask. Pilgrimage means never walking alone,” he noted.
Dr. Ivester observed that pilgrimage was both a journey and a destination. Saying the blessing was not only about arriving but being changed along the way, he invited students to keep walking through prayer, Scripture, community, honesty, grace, and rest.
He further noted that humility means accepting limits, letting go of control, and trusting God with the pace of life stating that many students try to run journeys that can only be walked, and that is why they grow weary.
“Formation often happens slowly, quietly, almost invisibly, until one day you realize you have been transformed," remarked Dr. Ivester as he reminded the new students not to rush in their new journey, but to walk humbly with Christ.
The Deputy Chaplain Main Campus Rev. Josphat Kimacia encouraged the new students to do business with Christ, and he will truly order their steps.
“The greatest thing you can do as freshmen is walking this journey with Christ,” said DCF Chair Main Campus, Mr. Mboya Timothy Matui.
Assistant Chaplain Athi River Campus Ms. Tabitha Mutheu prayed for the new students committing them to the Lord as their started their journey at Daystar University.
