[Athi River, Monday, January 6, 2025] Fifteen Nursing students and two faculty members from Calvin University are visiting Daystar University for a 13-day exchange program.
The School of Nursing conducted an orientation session to help the visiting students navigate their stay with ease.
The exchange program aims to broaden the students understanding of social aspects of healthcare, appreciate the importance of community involvement, enhance their skills, and give them a global perspective of healthcare practice in different cultural contexts.
While at Daystar University, the Calvin University students will learn how nursing is practiced in Kenya and engage in community social responsibility, including a visit to the Lukenya Pillars of Hope Children’s Home.
On January 7, 2025, the students visited Kangundo Level 4 Hospital, where they were paired up with Daystar University students doing their clinical rotations for community health exposure. This hands-on experience was intended to enable them apply their knowledge in a real-world setting.
Other activities planned for the visiting students included having dinner and a visit to the Bomas of Kenya for a cultural experience. The Calvin University students also attended Sunday service at the Lukenya the Community Church which neighbours Daystar University Main Campus Athi River.
The Nursing exchange program provides a networking opportunity for students and faculty from both universities to connect, collaborate and leverage on professional opportunities.
