[Athi River, 13th January, 2025] New students joining Daystar University this January and their parents received a warm welcome at the Main Campus Athi River. The event, known as the Vice Chancellor’s Address to New Parents and Students, featured inspiring speeches from the University leadership.
In his welcome remarks, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Laban P. Ayiro encouraged the freshmen to know they were joining the University to learn and grow so as to go out and make a difference in the world.
“Welcome to Daystar University. You are about to embark on a transformative journey filled with knowledge, growth, and community. Our desire is to lead students on a transcendental path, a journey that lifts them beyond personal success to a life of significance,” he said.
The Vice Chancellor also thanked the parents for entrusting their children to Daystar University, and reiterated his commitment to nurturing them academically and spiritually.
Prof. Ayiro further invited the parents to collaborate with the University to enhance the welfare and performance of the students.
The Ag. DVC Academic, Research and Student Affairs Prof. Samuel Muriithi thanked the new students for choosing Daystar and urged them to embrace the University’s holistic learning which is driven by its Christian philosophy, ethos and values.
On his part, the DVC- Finance, Administration and Planning Prof. Muturi Wachira, assured parents and the new students of a supportive learning environment. Prof. Wachira said that key infrastructure projects nearing completion included David Musau Mumama Learning Complex (DMMLC), kitchenettes for self-catering students, Perimeter Wall Phase II, and Faye Smith Hostel for female students.
The Daystar Founder Rev. Dr. Donald Smith shared his deep commitment and invited the University community to a life of prayer.
"Talking to God is an important thing we can do," he said, highlighting the much time he spends praying for the university's success and well-being.
The University Chaplain Rev. Miano Weche exhorted the freshmen to make good use of the new season God has brought them into.
