Pupils of Sabaki Preperatory School at Agape Library - on the World Literacy Day
On Friday September 8, 2023, pupils from Sabaki Hills Kindergarten spent their day at the Athi River Campus Agape Library, to celebrate the UNESCO World Literacy Day.
The trip was arranged by the School Director Ms. Yvonne Oyee. The little people were hosted by the Acting University Librarian, Mrs. Charity Kironcho, Reader Services Librarian Mrs. Zipporah Kimote, and other library staff as they exposed the pupils to what happens in a library.
They got to see how a library works, explore sections of shelves filled with different books and texts and read short stories.
The Library department was excited to host the little people for the day as they helped them sharpen their young minds. They read short stories to the children and played games. The children were over-excited to see the buildings, but more specifically the monkeys leaping on the trees.
UNESCO celebrates World Literacy Day every September 8, with this year’s theme being: ‘Promoting literacy for a world in transition: Building a foundation for sustainable and peaceful societies.’
It is little wonder that the little ones visited Daystar University Agape Library to start building their academic foundation.
