Daystar University Actuarial Students feted

Susan Wamae and Fredrick Maina receive their award from the head of Pension, Adel Suleman an actuary from Zamara

Daystar University Actuarial students, Susan Wamae and Fredrick Maina were recently crowned winners of the 2023 National Product Designing Competition organized by the Actuarial students Society of Kenya (ASSK). The duo emerged winners of the Actuarial Students Society of Kenya Product Design Competition that was held on 6th and 7th July 2023 at KCA University.

This highly competitive event challenged participants to showcase their talent and creativity in designing innovative products for the actuarial industry. Susan and Fredrick’s winning entry demonstrated their ability to think outside the box and create solutions that address real-world challenges faced by actuaries today.

The president of the Actuarial Students Society of Kenya, who organized the event is also our very own Daystar student, Stacy Gichuki. “Stacy demonstrated excellent leadership skills by organising an event that brought students, lecturers and corporates together,” said Susan Wamae.

Their entry was a software that automates calculations such as CSM and RA and also suggests which method is appropriate like General measurement method or Premium Allocation Approach

The event was sponsored by Zamara actuaries, administrators and consultants limited, LUX actuaries and consultants, Deloitte and Kenbright among other sponsors.
