Like one of the lepers who came back to thank Jesus for healing, Ephraim Paul, a third year student pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Computer Science, has thanked the Vice Chancellor and Daystar University for casual work he was offered that enabled him to meet his basic needs and purchase a laptop for his studies.
For three months between June and August this year, Ephraim worked in one of the University tree farms to earn money for his upkeep.
Expressing his gratitude in writing, Ephraim thanked the VC for his “genuine love and fatherly instincts,” noting: “For once in my life, I have felt parental love that I failed to feel in the streets,” he wrote, further revealing that working for the three months enabled him to resolve financial problems he was unable to share with people about.
“This is proof that the Vice Chancellor not only values education but also that he has compassion for students who cannot afford fees,” wrote Ephraim.
On receiving Ephraim's letter, the VC remarked, “I am delighted and emotionally touched.”
Speaking to the Infospot, Ephraim further revealed that he had also applied for a scholarship for the 2025/2026 academic year for which he had been interviewed and remained hopeful to receive.
