Daystar Hosts GPS Lab Workshop: Enhancing Problem Solving

Daystar University hosts Global Problem Solver Lab  Workshop at the Auditorium Nairobi Campus.

[Nairobi: August 15, 2025] Daystar University hosted a GPS Lab Workshop at its Nairobi Campus, that saw students and faculty train on problem-solving in life and academics.

The Director of Academic Affairs, Dr. Dinah Keino moderated the forum where Rev. Miano Wache and Prof. Samuel Muriithi, as well as a guest speaker, Mr. D.H Park from GPS Lab, gave a keynote address.

Mr. Park motivated students to drop self-centeredness and embrace selflessness by thinking of how to resolve the problems of other people. Drawing reference from Philippians 2:4 Mr. Park echoed that the only way to true happiness and honour is to bear the burdens of others. He emphasized that happiness, money and love are byproducts of solving problems just as Christ advises His followers to love one another as he loved them.

He further elaborated that problem solvers can fall into three categories namely: givers, takers, and players. He gave examples of renowned global innovators such as such as Elon Musk, Henry Ford and Chung Ju-yung  whose impressions have resolved societal shortcomings. Citing Romans 12:15, Matthew 9:36 and Isaiah 1:17, Mr. Park brought out empathy, burden, and righteous anger as sources of problems in the Bible.

Giving a devotion at the start of the event, the University Chaplain Rev. Miano Weche discussed dedication and the prudence of scripture as the guiding star for problem solving, whereas Prof. Samuel Muriithi, Ag. DVC-ARSA, emphasized the idea of partnership and collaboration, making mention of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) concept, an academic approach-centred on applying critical thinking to industry case studies and its trends.

As the meeting drew to a close, young participants had the opportunity to give their input, with the youth acknowledging the need to align their gifts with the mission of God (1Timothy 6:10) so as to solve community problems and transform lives.
