On Monday December 5, 2022, Daystar University sank yet another borehole at its Main Campus Athi River in an effort to address the prevailing challenge of water shortage.The borehole was sunk in partnership with Healing Hands International.
Speaking during the ceremony, the DVC- FAP, Prof. Muturi Wachira appreciated HHI for the partnership, saying that the borehole was big blessing to Daystar University as water had been a major challenge at Athi River Campus.
“We will work to ensure that this partnership goes to the next level” he said. He further revealed that a Memorandum of Understanding had been signed between Daystar University and the Nairobi Great Commission Training (NGCT) College will see one staff of healing Hands International join Daystar University for a Master’s Program. Another student who graduated with a Diploma at NGCT College will be joining Daystar University on scholarship.
According to DLPDI Director Prof. A.K Waithima who has oversight on the MOU, HHI absorbed Kshs 2 million out of total borehole project cost of Kshs 2.5 million, leaving Daystar University to only pay the outstanding Kshs. 500,000.
“God did it for us, because it is possible to sink a borehole and find that it is dry,” said Director of African Agriculture, Healing Hands International, Dr. Ebenezer Udofia.
The Principal of NGCTC, George Matangi revealed that they went157 feet to enable the borehole yield more water.
The borehole was dedicated by the Chaplaincy team led by immediate former University Chaplain Rev. Steven Nduto.
