Class of 2022 celebrates Graduation Dinner in style

Graduands from the School of Arts and Social Sciences display their awards at the 45th graduation dinner.

November 15, 2022 was marked by pomp and glamour as the Class of 2022 cerebrated its graduation dinner. Donned in stylish evening wear, the graduands strolled into the KICC Tsavo Ballroom through a lit tunnel spotting the Class theme colors of emerald green, gold and earth tones.  The dinner was served by Tamarind Tree Hotel.  It was patronized by more than 1000 graduands, members of Senate and staff.

Present to celebrate with the graduands was the Vice-chancellor, Prof. Laban P. Ayiro, Deputy Vice-chancellor Academic Research and Student Affairs, Prof. Faith Nguru, Deputy Vice -Chancellor, Finance, Administration and Planning, Prof. Muturi Wachira, Senior Management, Senate, and Management. Representing Daystar Alumni Association Board was the Chair, Ms. Rose Mwaura.

The Vice-chancellor charged the graduands to go out and exhibit Daystar’s ethos of excellence, transformation, and servant leadership. “Your life will never be the same again because you came to Daystar,” he said.

The guest of honor was the Senior Pastor, Purpose Centre Church, Rev. Julian Kyula. Rev. Kyula was all praise for Daystar alumni he encountered in the marketplace, saying they are different from others. “Daystar graduates adapt easily to situations.”

Rev. Kyula gave the following advisory tips to the graduating Class of 2022:

  • Do not take no for an answer
  • Never be ashamed of your faith
  • God’s voice will activate in obedience
  • As you press towards the mark you must ask God for clarity

The graduands were also addressed by Chief of Strategic Communications at the Kenya Defence Forces Brigadier Zipporah Kioko, who is also an alumnus of Daystar University.

In her speech, Brigd. Kioko noted that completion of studies was the easiest thing, but the hardest part begins after graduation. She advised that success, if not well managed well can result to one’s downfall, and urged the graduands to volunteer their services and time through internships, stating that, that is how they get noticed.

Daystar University Alumni Association (DUAA) Board Chair Ms. Rose Mwaura was also present to welcome the graduands to the Association. “You have just begun the journey, you will meet us on the other side,” she said.

During the dinner event, students who had excelled in academics, and non-academic activities were awarded.

The dinner ended with the cutting of a celebratory cake courtesy of Tamarind Tree Hotel.
