Senators in group discussions as they consider new strategy themes

[Monday 3rd February 2025] This past week, the Ag Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Muturi Wachira, led a team of staff to a strategic review retreat held at Voi Wildlife Lodge.
The review process was approved by the University Senate during its first seating on January 10, 2025.
The consultative multi-stakeholder review process kicked off on January 22, targeting to engage three key groups namely Senate/Management, Senior Staff Association of Daystar University (SSADU) and Daystar University General Staff Association (DUGSA) officials, and Student Leaders. The three groups held three parallel workshops, each focused on addressing a set of strategic questions.

The Strategic Plan review committee, which is chaired by the DVC Finance, Administration and Planning (DVC-FAP), Prof. Muturi Wachira, is currently retreating at Voi Wildlife Lodge to kick-start formulation of the new strategic plan (SP).
In specific the team is focused to;
- Analyze feedback from internal stakeholder engagements
- Generate the objectives, strategies and activities of the 6 thematic areas for the new SP (2025-2030)
The emerging themes for the new SP are;
- Theme 1: Promoting a student-centred and equity-driven culture in the University
- Theme 2: Catalysing upward mobility and prosperity for staff and faculty
- Theme 3: Nurturing and renewing the academic core
- Theme 4: Designing a convergent research and innovation ecosystem
- Theme 5: Re-imagining University Finances and Infrastructure
- Theme 6: Promoting the differentiation and integration of Christian values within the University.
Additional consultative workshops are planned for external stakeholders. The current strategic plan ends in July 2025.
