[Athi River Campus, Thursday, January 30, 2025] “God’s forgiveness is immediate and does not take time.” These were the words of Rev. Susan Siole, Daystar University Deputy Chaplain, Nairobi Campus.
Rev. Siole spoke when she delivered a sermon titled "Embracing God’s Pattern of Forgiveness," at Daystar University Main Campus Athi River. The topic was anchored on the chapel theme for the Semester: Walking Together, which was announced last Tuesday on both Campuses. The semester theme to Love one another is drawn from John 13:34-35.
In a message drawn from Genesis 50:16-21, Rev. Siole encouraged the University community to cultivate a forgiving heart, just as Joseph did for his brothers. Rev. Siole highlighted that despite the harm his brothers caused him, Joseph forgave them wholeheartedly. She called on her listeners to forgive thoroughly and completely like Joseph (Genesis 50:21), saying this kind of forgiveness lets go of past grievances in order to foster peace and reconciliation. Rev. Siole reminded all that this is the forgiveness God has given us through the death of His Son and thus, we too should forgive one another in the same manner.
“I call upon every one of us to embrace forgiveness, even towards those who have done the worst to us,” she concluded.
