Director's Message

This is the planning unit for the university charged with the responsibility of providing leadership in the formulation, implementation and monitoring of the university strategic direction. The directorate provides technical support towards the implementation of the university strategic plan, oversight of the university 20 years’ master plan (2020 – 2040), development and execution of the university business plan, establishment of ISO system for the university, development of risk management register and supporting any other emerging planning needs in different divisions and functions in the university.

The directorate is also in charge of the enterprise arm of the university whose role is to generate alternative revenue through enterprise development. Entrepreneurship activities do not only promote university’s sustainability and going concern but also create an opportunity for students to learn enterprise skills which allows them to earn as they learn. The directorate through Daystar Enterprises Limited (DEL) manages the university catering and cafeteria services, transport services, cleaning services and agribusiness activities within the university. DPE will continue to partner with schools, directorates and other units within and outside the university to jointly seek opportunities for grant making, donor funding and other profitable ventures which promotes sustainability of Daystar University. In partnership with The School of Nursing, the directorate is in the process of taking over the management and operations of health care services in the university; the health care facility in Athi river campus will achieve a level 4 hospital status and its services will be accessed by the members of public.

The Directorate has embarked on a journey to start an innovation Centre. This hub will support venture incubation program where innovations will be nurtured and student innovators mentored by the industry players to refine their innovative business concepts, develop entrepreneurial skills and increase opportunities to earn as they learn. The center’s big picture is to embark on a journey towards creating sustainable enterprises for the youth of Africa and support youth to start and scale up enterprises which they consider as fulfilling and dignified.
