New students received at Athi River Campus

May 13, 2024 was a busy day for Daystar University as First Year students reported to the Main Campus Athi River to begin their orientation programme. The students were accompanied by their parents and guardians.

The new students were received by the orientation team comprising DOULOS, Daystar Christian Fellowship, DUSA and Daystar Care and Compassion Centre (DC3), who assigned them orientation groups, known as family, for easy assimilation and orientation into their new environment.

Meanwhile, parents and guardians had a guided campus tour before gathering for the Vice-Chancellor’s welcome address at the Amphitheatre from 10:00am.

Speaking to the new students and their parents, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Laban P. Ayiro, said that he spends 40 percent of his working time, every year, fundraising for student scholarships, so that nobody is left behind regardless of their background. He urged the students to never forget their story, but be keen to remember where they came from.

“Daystar is a serious University, our commitment is to ensure that your child gets the correct identity as they pass through Daystar,” said the VC.

“We will do everything to support you, but learning is your responsibility,” said the DVC ARSA Prof. Faith Nguru, as she welcomed the new students to Daystar University.

On his part, the University Chaplain, Rev. J. Miano Weche called on the students to walk in humility, saying that one can learn nothing without humility, and that God resists the proud but lifts the humble.

Also in attendance of the meeting was the DVC- Finance, Administration and Planning Prof. Muturi Wachira, the Principal Nairobi Campus, Prof. Michael Bowen, the Dean of Students Rev. Mutinda Musyimi, other members of the Management Board, Senate, Student leaders and Faculty members.
