The Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations Programme is a four-year programme designed to equip students with requisite knowledge and skills to enable them to function effectively in the field of public relations. It does so by offering a range of courses that grounds the student in the theoretical foundations that inform the practice of Public relations.
Students will also be equipped with other skills building courses requisite for practical PR demands in contemporary society. These courses include, but are not limited to, writing, research, persuasive, event planning, and fundraising skills as well as media literacy. To remain relevant in the modern and dynamic communication landscape, there is a deliberate attempt to integrate phases of digital engagement in a wide range of course contents and assignments.
It is against the above backdrop that the proposed B.A in Public Relations curriculum does the following:
Applicants must fulfil entry requirements
that apply to all Daystar undergraduate students, i.e. An overall
minimum grade of C+ in KCSE or atleast 4 credits in IGSE with atleast 2 credit passes at A level/GCE.
In addition to the University requirements for admission into the BA programme, the applicant for a major in Public Relations must have a minimum grade of a pass in Mathematics and B- (minus) in English in KCSE or its equivalent. Applicants with a B- in English will be admitted on condition that they take the remedial course, ENG 214.
