Undergraduate Day Programme and Diploma students who reported for the May intake were officially admitted to Daystar University in a matriculation ceremony held on Wednesday May 11, 2023.
For the Vice-chancellor’s address, the DVC Academic Research and Students Affairs, Prof. Faith Nguru gave the opportunity to several Dons to speak to the new students.
The Dean School of Applied Social Sciences, Dr. Kennedy Ongaro told the new students, “We promised your parents to give you quality education and quality student evaluation and we shall honor our word.”
Dean School of Nursing, Dr. Susan Njuguna called on the students to exercise servant leadership, saying that servant leadership must be demonstrated on Campus, at home and in the society. “We cannot leave Daystar the way we came, we must be transformed,” she advised.
“Learning is easy if you want to make it easy and difficult if you want to make it difficult,” said the Ag. HoD, Strategic and Organizational Communication, Dr. Daniel Aswan.
Dr. Rahab Karanja from the School of Applied Human Sciences encouraged the new students, saying that she started her academic journey at diploma level and went all the way to PhD. “When the academic journey gets tough, trust in God and he will make a way for you,” she advised.
Associate Dean School of Communication, Dr. Kinya Mwithia said: “Learning institutions are available to you not just to accumulate knowledge, but so that knowledge can change you, mature you and make you different.”
In closing, the Principal Nairobi Campus, Prof. Michael Bowen challenged the students to believe in what Daystar believes in. “How can you walk with Daystar University unless you believe in what Daystar stands for?” he posed.
Prof. Bowen then led the students to recite the declaration of ascent as they undertook to walk by Daystars statutes and code of conduct.
After signing the declaration of ascent, the students were officially admitted to Daystar University to pursue the disciplines of their calling.
Infospot wishes the new students God’s blessing as they begin their academic journey at Daystar University.
