From June 13 to 16, 2023, the DVC Academic, Research and Student Affairs, Prof. Faith Nguru represented Daystar University at The Education Collaborative’s June Convening held in Accra, Ghana.
The theme of this year’s Stakeholders Symposium is “Building the capacity of institutions to improve African higher-ed outcomes.”
Since 2020, institutions and partners in the network have designed, shared, and implemented innovations and models around entrepreneurship, ethics and leadership, employability, and faculty development.
The Career and Employability track reviewed progress and outcomes on current and past career and employability projects facilitated by the collaborative, and discussed market trends vis-a-vis challenges and successes within these projects and project areas for future development.
Education Collaborative’s broader goal for career and employability track equipped participants to train and provide students with the competencies, knowledge, and resources to prepare graduates and transition them smoothly into successful careers.
The Higher Education Stakeholders Symposium which is an invite-only forum engages the broader stakeholders of Africa’s higher education sector on focal areas identified by exemplary higher-education institutions central to transformation. Participants include executive leaders, faculty, administrators of higher education, regulators, policy makers, industry, and professionals from development agencies.
Prof. Nguru was accompanied by Dr. Rosemary Kowuor, faculty member from the School of Communication.
