Course description

Diploma in Information & Communication Technology in Daystar is a two-year programme that is developed to address the industry computing infrastructure support, system, and data security as well as software development needs that arise because of Information Technology pervasiveness in the society. It is structured in a way that it addresses the skills gap and enhances innovation. The learner does not need prerequisite knowledge in computing.

The programme trains learners to be creative and innovative thinkers able to create jobs hence eradicating poverty. The programs trains in the following areas: Programming, Software Engineering, Computer hardware Support & Maintenance, Web design & development, Mobile Application Development, Networking, Fundamentals of Cybersecurity, Computer graphics, and Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Marketing. It includes a three-month program of industrial attachment where the learner is exposed to the world of computing.

Upon completing this program graduates can participate in developing systems to solve real-life problems and supporting existing Information Technology hence improving efficiency in service delivery with integrity.

Learners who graduate from the programme can join the undergraduate programmes like Bachelor of Science in Applied Computer Science (ACS), of Commerce in Management Information Systems (MIS) at Daystar University or any computing programme in many other Universities.

The department has club know as Daystar Information Technology (DITA) which nurture innovation in computing and facilitates mentorship.

The program equips the learner a solid foundation in liberal arts preparing them to serve the community and the world at large professionally and ethically.
