The Management-Senate Retreat (Conclave) held at Travellers Beach Hotel and SPA from July 1^st - 4^th passed a raft of resolutions to be implemented in the coming months.

As the Conclave kicked-off, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Laban P. Ayiro announced the decision to appoint the Dean, School of Arts and Social Sciences Rev. Dr. Patrick Musembi, as the Acting Director of the Daystar Leadership and Professional Development Institute (DLPDI).  Dr. Musembi takes over from Prof. Abraham Waithima who has left to take up a new responsibility as DVC Academic Affairs at St. Paul’s University.

Other major decisions made for immediate action was the constitution of a strategic plan committee, by Management, to recast the strategic plan thematic areas to reflect the existential realities of the 21^st century. The 2020-2025 Strategic Plan has nine thematic areas and enters its final year of implementation in August 2024 through July 2025.

At the same time, the Daystar University Enterprises Limited (DEL) was mandated to operate autonomously effective from August 1, 2024.  DEL CEO Mr. Richard Maswili was tasked to present a Business Plan that will see this change effected.

Other changes to take effect from August 1, 2024, include the operationalization of a Service Charter as part of the ISO certification process, and awareness raising of the ISO process itself across all departments to drive buy-in by the University community.

The Conclave was chaired by the Vice Chancellor and officially opened by the Chair of the University Council, Prof. George Njoroge.
