Sr. Prof. Agnes Lucy Lando named a member of the Jury in the 7th Edition of the Pan-African (Re) Insurance Journalism Awards

Professor Agnes Lando, PhD, of Daystar University, School of Communication and Director of Research and Postgraduate studies has been named a member of the jury in the 7th edition of the pan-African (re)insurance Journalism Awards by the Continental Reinsurance Plc. The Pan-African Re/Insurance Journalism Awards recognize the outstanding work of journalists on re/insurance from across the continent. Successful candidates have to demonstrate how their articles have raised awareness and understanding of the re/insurance sector in Africa.
Sr. Prof. Agnes Lucy Lando, PhD, of Daystar University, School of Communication and Director of Research and Postgraduate studies has been named a member of the jury in the 7th edition of the pan-African (re)insurance Journalism Awards by the Continental Reinsurance Plc.
The Pan-African Re/Insurance Journalism Awards recognize the outstanding work of journalists on re/insurance from across the continent. Successful candidates have to demonstrate how their articles have raised awareness and understanding of the re/insurance sector in Africa.
She will be judging the English submissions which will be received until April, 2022, after which the judges will review the shortlisted entries and provide scores then attend a virtual round table event with the other judges to decide the winner. The award ceremony will be held in May 2022, in Kenya alongside an African insurance event that will attract over 700 insurance leaders.
She is the only judge from Kenya and Africa which is proof that Daystar University graduates and lecturers are recognized globally as key voices in the field of communication and journalism.
“I consider this a vote of confidence by the community, both internal and external, in Daystar University’s capability as a trend setter in communication,” she said.
Joining the jury in 2022, Sr. Prof. Lando holds a PhD in Social Communication from La Pontificia Università Gregoriana, Roma, Italia. She is also a George Gerbner Excellence Award winner (2013) and the first African elected Board-Member-at-Large of the coveted International Communication Association (2016). Sr. Prof Agnes Lucy Lando has published 5 books, 11 referred journal articles and 13 edited book chapters. She covers subjects such as media ethics, crisis communication and new media. She is among the eight judges with a wealth of experience across journalism and insurance, bringing insights from within and outside the sector.
