[Wednesday January 10, 2024] New students who reported for the January semester were officially admitted to Daystar University through a matriculation ceremony that took place at the Athi River Campus Amphitheatre. These consisted of Diploma and undergraduate students admitted to both campuses.
The ceremony was officiated by the Vice-chancellor Prof .Laban P. Ayiro and the DVC Academic, Research and Student Affairs, Prof. Faith Nguru, and witnessed by the University management, Senate and Faculty, clad in their academic regalia.
As the Vice-chancellor commissioned the new students, he spoke the following blessing over them as they prepared to begin their classes on January 15:
- May your hands be always busy
- May your feet always be swift
- May you have joyful hearts
- May your song always be sang
- May you remain forever young
With the powerful words of fatherly blessing, Prof. Ayiro figuratively “spat saliva” on the new students” as they started their academic journey at Daystar University. “I want you to remember your story. Whatever your background, God has a purpose for you,” he said.
The VC further revealed his next dream for Daystar University; to build a 1000-unit en-suit hostel block, housing two students per room. The VC also revealed that the University was planning to build two extra staff houses on campus, to accommodate more resident tutors.
The DVC ARSA explained that matriculation was an important ceremony which puts newstudents on the path of scholarship.
With this ceremony the students were officially admitted to Daystar University, thereby becoming “Daystarians”.
