On 1st September, the MPESA Foundation Academy (Uongozi Center) Director, Christian Gulzow and John Kipkemboi paid a courtesy visit to Daystar University Vice-chancellor Prof. Laban P. Ayiro at his Nairobi Campus office. The VC was accompanied by the Director DLPDI, Prof. A. K. Waithama, Director ODEL, Dr. Caroline Ayuya, Corporate Affairs Manager, Mrs. Damaris Kimilu and Marketing Officer, Mr. Alex Mutuku. The aim of the meeting was to discuss possible partnership between Daystar University and the MPESA Foundation Academy, in offering professional and academic courses to their graduates.
DLPDI Director Prof. Abraham Waithima presented professional courses and the KCSE Ex-candidates Destiny program which equips high school graduates with ICT and other life skills necessary for decision making as they transition to colleges. In the past, the program has partnered with organizations such as Compassion International, CITAM, Deliverance Church, PAGEA, Mission of Hope International, and Team Challenge Africa.
The MFA Director expressed concern that currently most of Uongozi Centre graduates were seeking higher education abroad, hence the need to develop partnerships with affordable local universities where their graduates can blend in and cope more easily.
Since its inception six years ago, Uongozi Center has continued to offer full scholarships to students from less privileged backgrounds country wide, for their secondary school and tertiary education. They expressed interest in certificate, diploma and undergraduate programmes.
