Faculty and students attend East African Communication Conference

[Dar-es-Salaam, August 30, 2024] Ten Faculty and four postgraduate students from the School of Communication were among Kenyan delegates who attended the 14th East African Communication Association (EACA) conference in Dar e salaam, Tanzania, from 20th - 30th August 2024. The Daystar University team was led by the Dean, School of Communication, Prof. Levi Obonyo.

[Dar-es-Salaam, August 30, 2024] Ten Faculty and four postgraduate students from the School of Communication were among Kenyan delegates who attended the 14th East African Communication Association (EACA) conference in Dar e salaam, Tanzania, from 20th - 30th August 2024. The Daystar University team was led by the Dean, School of Communication, Prof. Levi Obonyo.
The conference, themed ‘Africa and the Global dialogue on media and communication’, was hosted by the School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC) of the University of Dar-es-salaam. The conference hosted over 300 global participants.
The conference, which focused on media, literacy, innovation, AI-driven media, and the role of media in Africa’s development served as a crucible for groundbreaking ideas and transformative collaborations. The event promises to be a beacon of intellectual and professional exchange.
The objective of the conference was to advance communication research, policy and practice, elevation of the field and refining education and training for communication professionals. The EACA conference was of great benefit to early career scholars and graduate students in the areas of writing abstracts and research papers.
Since its establishment in 2011, the East African Communication Association (EACA) has grown into a dynamic platform for scholars, researchers and professionals passionate about media and communication studies in the region.
