Orange Democratic Movement supporters yesterday held daylong celebrations after William Mtengo was declared winner in the Malindi parliamentary by-election.
Mr. Mtengo gurned 15,582 votes beating his closest rival Philip Charo of the Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP) by more that 6,000 votes. Mr. Charo, who bagged 9,243 votes, later conceded defeat. Mtengo’s victory ensured the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) retained the seat previously occupied by Dan Kazungu who was appointed Mining Cabinet Secretary.
