“We are the light of the world, we are a city on a hill, we are the light of the world so we got to we got to we got to let our light shines”. These lyrics happen to be from a song that I love and to make it even better, they were words that were said by Jesus Himself while He was still on earth. The main thing that light does is to eliminate darkness, even the smallest strike of light can be seen in a dark room. In less than a year our Country is going to be conducting the elections, the major fear that Kenyans have is the possibility of a repeat of whatever happened in the 2007 elections.

To some extent these fears are called for especially because of the way in the past one month there have been very violent protests that have been going down in the CBD and some other parts of the country due to the Cord members’ plea to the government for the removal of the IEBC Commissioners from office. All these occurrences leave me with just one question in my mind, Didn’t Kenyans learn from the gruesome experiences we went through? Anyway that was me just trying to let free some of the things that have been bothering me.

It is very unwise to dwell on the past; therefore Kenya has been proved through research as having a population of 80% Christians. I urge each one of us to get out of our comfort zones and get to business. Simply meaning that we should stop waiting for our work to be done by other people, we have been called the light of the world therefore you can only imagine what would happen if we continued just living life without being mindful of our calling. The world would undoubtedly be a very dark place and I presume nobody likes living in the darkness.

Therefore, let us rise up and take our positions, everywhere you go leave a message of Peace and Love because am certain that if we as Kenyans learn to inculcate these we will live in a very beautiful Country. Let us not wait till the damage is done so as to begin speaking about these two vital virtues, let us continue Shining because that is exactly what we have been called to do.

John 8:12- ‘Again Jesus spoke to them saying, I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’
