Hospitals in Nyeri alarmed as they run out of drugs

A major crisis has hit the health sector in Nyeri, with all public health facilities running low on drugs.

Crucial and common drugs have been missing in the pharmacy, forcing patients to get them from private chemists.

Several employees at the facility confirmed that the worst hit departments were the casualty, cancer and renal unit wards.

Hardest hit by the shortage of drugs is the Nyeri Level Five Hospital (formerly Provincial General Hospital), a referral facility run by the Nyeri county government.

Also affected is Karatina, Mukurweini hospitals and other health centres and dispensaries.
