January 2021 Semester Communique

Warm Season's Greetings! 

We appreciate all students who were enrolled for Online study in the just-ended August 2020 Semester and those in the Face-to-Face October 2020 Block Semester. Thank you for withstanding the challenges of 2020 in pursuit of your academic goals. Our best wishes to the students in the October Block semester as you complete your examinations.

 The University will officially close for the Christmas holiday on 23rd December 2020 and resume normal operations on 4th January 2021. As you take the short break, we invite you to take note of the following and to prepare adequately for the January 2021 Semester:

First Year Students

• All New Students admitted in January 2021 will report to the Main Campus Athi River for physical Orientation starting 4th January 2021. Face-to-Face classes will start on 11th January 2021 on both Athi River and Nairobi campuses. Please read your Admission letter carefully and plan early payment of both Orientation and Semester fees. Those without transport from Nairobi are welcome to board University buses from our Nairobi Campus starting 6:45am on 4th January 2021. Buses will leave as they fill until 9:00am.

• All Nursing students admitted in 2021 and 2020 will have Face-to-Face classes at our residential Athi River Campus. Please book your accommodation early.

• All Undergraduate students admitted to the October 2020 Face-to-Face Block Semester will continue with Face-to-Face classes for Level 100 and 200 courses at Athi River Campus in January 2021. Please book your accommodation early.

 • All Law students admitted in January 2021 and August 2020 will have Face-to-Face classes at the residential Athi River Campus. Please book your accommodation early.

 • All new postgraduate students admitted in January 2021 and October 2020 will study Online.

Hostel Booking and Accommodation

• First Year students are required to live on-campus in University Hostels. Please be advised that rooms will be reserved on a First-come-First-served basis. For more information on Hostel booking visit https://www.daystar.ac.ke/university-services.html

Continuing Students

• All Nursing students admitted in 2018 and 2019 will continue with their Clinical placements as allocated by the School.

• All Upgrade Nursing students admitted in 2020 and 2021 will have Face-to-Face Theory classes at the Nairobi Campus.

• All students taking Biomedical Science, Environmental Health, Actuarial Science, Applied Computer Science, and B.Ed Science will have Face-to-Face classes at the Main Campus Athi River.

 • Save for the programmes outlined above, all other undergraduate, certificate and Diploma students will remain Online.

 • All Postgraduate students taking PGDE, Master's and PhD programmes will remain online.

Fees Payment

• The applicable Fees Structures for 2020/2021 is available here https://www.daystar.ac.ke/downloads/fees/2020-2021%20fee-structure.pdf Fees for Government-sponsored (KUCCPS) students can be obtained from finance@daystar.ac.ke

• The University Portal will be opened on 4th January 2021 as soon as the Timetable has been released in order to allow for fees payment and registration. Classes for both new and continuing students will begin on 11th January 2021.

• All new students freshly admitted in January 2021 are required to pay their semester fees in full within the Orientation Week of 4th - 8th January 2021.

• Continuing students, including those admitted in August and October 2020, qualify for the Fee Instalment Plan. Only parents/guardians are allowed to sign the Fee Instalment Plan. For guidance on how to utilise the Fee Instalment Plan please contact finance@daystar.ac.ke

 • All students studying on-Campus are required to have medical cover either through the University or their own family covers. Please note the full annual charges in the attached Fees Structure for 2020/2021. The applicable prorated medical fee for on-campus students joining from January 2021 to August 2021 is Ksh 10,600. For more information contact hr@daystar.ac.ke

 • The 15% Fee Discount previously extended for Online study has been discontinued due to the Government suspension of all tax waivers.

Transport Charges and Payment Methods

• Semester Transport Charges for Day-scholar students studying at the Athi River Campus are detailed in the attached Fees Structure for 2020/2021. Transport charges are paid directly to Daystar University Enterprises Limited using any of the following payment methods:
