DUSA Hosts new students to Freshmen Dinner

On Friday 8th January 2021, the Daystar University Students Association, (DUSA) and the Students Affairs Office hosted new students to the Freshmen dinner at the Athi River campus Amphitheatre. The dinner was organized by the DOULOS Orientation Team.

The event marked the peak of the orientation week which ended on Sunday afternoon with team building activities at the Freedom base led by DOULOS team.

At least 300 freshmen from both campuses had the opportune time to share their one week experience in the University with each other over a meal.

The event was graced by the Dean of Students Rev. Mutinda Musyimi, Resident Tutors: Mr. Fredrick Ogore, Mrs. Ann Wachira and Mrs. Mabel Odima, Corporate Affairs Intern Gracejoy Matuu and DUSA representative, Mr. Jonah Kariuki.

The guest of Honor was former ISADU President, 2017-2018, who is also an alumnus of Daystar University, Mr. Alain Ishimwe.

The MCs of the day, Mr. Enoch Muteti and Ms. Imeldah Dommo kicked off the event with the National Anthem led by Rose Mary Nyawira of the worship team, followed by presentations and entertainment.

The Dean congratulated the students for choosing Daystar as their University of choice. “I appreciate each one of you, you are most welcome to this great family of Daystar,” said the Dean of Students, further advising Freshmen to know why they were in Daystar, pursue excellence and choose their friends wisely.

“While some friends will help you succeed in [pursuing] your destiny, others will kill your destiny, therefore, it is your responsibility to walk cautiously and know what is right and what is wrong,” he warned.

Mr. Ishimwe urged the Freshmen to set their goals right because they were the hope of future generations. “You all have an opportunity to move far beyond your expectation. The decision you make today will determine whether you will wear a gown or you will admire others in their graduation gown,” he advised”

As the dinner came to an end, the most outstanding freshmen; best dressed male and female, and the most outgoing were awarded.
