Diploma In Information & Communication Technology (ICT)

    Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is one of the emerging fields in the world today, due to the extent in which ICTs have permeated the different sectors of the economy world over.

    The Diploma in ICT is a two year programme that is developed to address the industry needs that arise as a result of pervasiveness.

 

 

It is structured in a way that it addresses the skills gap in the several areas of specialization like databases, networks management, systems analysis and solutions architecture, development of applications and multimedia. The diploma in ICT gives skills that are immediately applicable in developing solutions in the industry as well as ground the learners in the discipline of computer science, information and communication technology and information systems.

 

Program Outcomes


At the end of the programme, students should be able to:

  • Understand the modern trends in information and communication technologies and how these apply to the industry needs.
  • Use skills in different domains of ICT like systems supports, applications developments, networking and others, to design the most appropriate solutions for the different sectors of the economy. 
  • Develop more focused skills set based on an area of specialization in either systems development or network infrastructure management. 

 

Admission Requirements


To be admitted into the program one must be a holder of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum aggregate C- (minus) or its equivalent Examination Certificate.  In addition, a prospective applicant must have obtained a minimum of

  • C plain in Mathematics or Physics, or Chemistry, or Computer Studies.
  • C- (Minus) in English or Kiswahili.
  • One (1) Principal in A level.
  • Division III (three) in KCE certificate with a credit pass in mathematics.
  • Other equivalent qualifications as may be approved by the University Senate.
