Vice Chancellor Meets Stakeholders on Athi River Road Construction
On Friday 12th April 2019, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Laban Ayiro hosted neighbours of Daystar Athi Campus who are also stakeholders of the Mombasa Road-Lukenya Road currently under construction.
The meeting was intended to acquaint neighbours with each other and initiate talks in support of construction works on the road leading to Daystar Athi River campus from Mombasa Road. The team agreed to engage both the land and road surveyors, the KURA Resident Engineer and the KURA Director General’s supervision team for the ongoing works. Although the road has encroached on private property, the stakeholders meeting agreed to support completion of the road construction for the benefit of the entire community.
Earlier on through Circular Ref: SCU/KURA/DG/2971/19 dated 2nd April 2019, Sivad Construction Ltd announced its intent to close Mombasa Road-Lukenya Road to enable it to carry out earthworks on road construction and upgrading of the road to Bitumen Standard. During this time, it urged the Lukenya community to use other alternative routes.
Members present also agreed to work together on other cross-cutting issues including upgrading standards for the off campus community outside Daystar Athi River by ensuring access roads, proper waste disposal, and improved security and lighting.
