K24 Covers International Women’s Day Live from Daystar University
During this year’s International Women’s Day celebrated on 8th March, K24 Television relayed a live transmission from Daystar University Nairobi Campus with a panel that comprised the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Laban Ayiro, Daystar Compassion and Care Centre (DCCC) Chairlady Elvina Majiwa, and International Student Association of Daystar University (ISADU) Chairlady Alaine Nshobole. The panel was hosted by K24 reporter Mercy Milanoi of Inside Business.
The Vice-Chancellor confirmed that 65 percent of Daystar University’s student population comprises women, a clear demonstration that Daystar University gave girls the opportunity to emerge as leaders in society.
Prof. Ayiro called on women to strengthen their purpose as this will drive them to excellence. He further noted the importance of intellectual stimulation in encouraging women to be leaders and urged men to nurture leadership and mentorship in women.
The topic of discussion was ‘Creating a Balanced Environment for all’. Elvina Majiwa said that women should identify whatever it is that they want to do and be intentional about it. Nairobi Campus International Students’ President Ms. Alaine Nshobole supported the idea, adding that it is up to women to trust and believe in themselves and also to support each other.
