Freshmen Dinner Held at Athi Campus
The January Semester Freshmen celebrated their welcome dinner on Campus at the Athi River Campus on Friday, 11th January 2019.
The event was attended by the Ag. Vice-Chancellor Prof. James Kombo and Mrs. Pamela Kombo, Dean of Students Rev. Mutinda Musyimi, Associate Dean of Students Ms. Irene Kimani, Development Studies Lecturer and Resident tutor Mrs. Mabel Odima, DUSA officials from both Nairobi and Athi River Campuses and DCF officials.
In his remarks, Ag. Vice Chancellor Prof. James Kombo appreciated the office of the Dean of Students and the Doulos team for facilitating the orientation process.
“I am not standing here to say much but to appreciate the many people who have helped in planning for this day; you have not failed us in being servants. The word Doulos is a Greek word meaning Bond-Servant and you have exhibited that. Continue finding ways to help these young people, be good and kind to them,” urged the Ag. VC.
He congratulated the Freshmen for choosing Daystar University and assured them of support from various bodies within the University.
“When there are challenges there will be people to stand with you”, said the Ag. VC.
On her part, Mrs. Pamela Kombo expressed joy in seeing the new students. She urged them to not only prepare for their degrees and diplomas but also to be Christ’s Ambassadors.
“I am very happy to see you and we thank God for you. We are very grateful because you have found an opportunity to be here at Daystar,” she said.
The Associate Dean of Students Ms. Irene Kimani asked the Freshmen to hold on to the truth and what they believed in and develop good relationships.
Heri Homes, Kitengela Rotary, and Cyber Link were among companies that came to showcase their products and services to the Freshmen.
The event closed with cake cutting and awarding of Mr. and Ms. Orientation, January 2019, and the most outgoing Freshmen.
