Graduation Dinner for the Class of 2018
Daystar University held a first ever December graduation dinner to bid farewell and congratulate the class of December 2018. The dinner took place on Saturday 8th December at the Crowne Plaza (Upper Hill), ahead of the University’s 41st graduation ceremony, that took place on Friday 14th of December, 2018.
The event was graced by among others, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Prof. James Kombo and his wife Mrs. Pamela Kombo, Mr. Ian Wanga, a Daystar Alumnus and member of the Daystar US, Corporate Affairs Manager, Mrs. Damaris Kimilu, Chief Manager Finance Mrs. Phyllis Mutua and Associate Dean of Students Ms. Irene Kimani and Mr. Isaac Kiema representing the DUAA Board.
In his speech, Prof. Kombo congratulated the Class of December 2018 for their achievement and reminded them of the great advantage of studying in a respected and renowned institution such as Daystar University.
“As you go out to share what you have learnt, and contribute to the job market and society, you should remember that you have no excuse because you have received excellent training. When you present that certificate with the star on it, the world will know that it is from Daystar, and hence much will be expected of you,” said Prof. Kombo.
Mr. Ian Wanga, a Daystar Alumnus of the Class of 2001 shared reminisces of his experience as a Daystar student many years ago, and challenged the graduands to get more involved and be innovative.
On his part, Mr. Isaac Kiema, representing Daystar University Alumni Association (DUAA) board proudly pointed out that wherever he travels, he is always sure to come across Daystar alumni in various sectors and nations. He encouraged the graduands to visit the Alumni office, where they would get opportunities and connections with the outside world especially the job market.
On the ongoing Vice-Chancellor recruitment. Mr. Kiema expressed hope that the institution will get someone who truly understands, and will reflect the University’s vision and mission.

The class of December 2018 Class representative Mr. Danson Ndegwa also got the opportunity to speak and motivated fellow graduands by sharing his own experiences; the good and the bad. He advised them take advantage of the opportunities presented to them at Daystar and most of all enjoy their own sweat.
