Vice Chancellor receives new parents
As Freshmen reported for their First year on Monday 20th August 2018, the Ag. Vice-Chancellor Rev. Prof. James Kombo hosted new parents to the traditional welcome tea at the Athi River Campus Amphitheatre. The VC was accompanied by members of Senate and Management Board.
In his address, Rev. Prof. James Kombo invited parents to be part of the process of developing their children during their academic journey at Daystar.
“We will work with the young people, with Christ at the centre of our lives,” he assured the parents, saying that Daystar University is established after the Liberal Arts tradition which believes that all knowledge is from God. “Choosing Daystar is an affirmation, a complement and a statement to we who have been given the privilege of working in different constituencies of this University,” he said.
The Ag. DVC Academic Affairs Prof. Bernard Boyo thanked the parents for choosing Daystar University as a destination for their children.
“Daystar is a Christian University and as such we are driven by our core values of Excellence Transformation and Servant-leadership” he said, adding that the University takes interest in not only the students’ academics but also in the they make.
On his part, the University Chaplain Rev. Steven Nduto said the relationship between parents and children is a natural relationship, hence it should be well nurtured “Natural relationships are very unforgiving if not well nurtured,” he advised, calling on the parents to handle the relationships with their children well. “Don’t just leave your children with us and walk away; find out how things are going on in their lives,” he urged.
The new parents were given the opportunity to ask questions and clarify issues to do with their children’s stay at Daystar.
