DAYSTAR SET TO RE-OPEN ON 9TH MAY
Daystar University will re-open on May 9, the Ag. Vice-Chancellor Prof. James Kombo has confirmed.
The release of the re-opening date follows a senate decision and further consultations between the University Senate, the Council and the Company.
During the commissioning of the Independent Taskforce to address the situation at the University on April 25, Prof. Kombo said that the University would be announcing the reopening date as soon as internal consultations were concluded.
“Since the University was closed on April 12, the Senate and Management Board have worked tirelessly to bring the University back to normalcy,” he said, adding that Senate had proposed to the Council new dates for re-opening and graduation.
Prof. Kombo further confirmed that most of the student concerns touching on academic issues and students’ welfare that led to the student boycott last year were already resolved. He welcomed the Independent Taskforce to walk alongside the University and assured the members of his support to enable the taskforce execute its mandate.
Prof Kombo further called on students to consider the opportunity accorded by the intervention of the Company through the Taskforce, and invited the student body to make use of this as a mechanism to go forward.
