AG. VICE CHANCELLOR MEET UP WITH DUSA ATHI-RIVER
The Ag. VC Prof. James Kombo has encouraged students to use minutes to document issues for follow up with the University administration.
Prof. Kombo was addressing officials of DUSA Athi River campus during an informal luncheon he hosted on Thursday, 18th January 2018.
“For the time I will be in office I will be requiring all departments both for students and administration to document and provide minutes of all meetings, capturing action points and those responsible,” he noted.
Prof. Kombo underscored the importance of minutes as a formal way of drawing the attention of management to concerns raised and decisions made before issues escalate.
Key concerns raised by DUSA Athi River included: the quality of work done on sports fields, sports budget, fee increment for continuing students, needs of international students, transport, Clinix, and the facilitation of DCF officials.
Regarding sports budget, Prof. Kombo advised DUSA to prioritize competitive sports both tournaments and recreational sports in their planning to ensure clear focus on student development.
With respect to International students, the Ag. VC tasked the Dean of Students and Corporate Affairs offices to collaborate in addressing emerging concerns pertaining to information, orientation, documentation and compliance with government regulations for foreigners.
Prof. Kombo committed to follow up and clarify issues on fee increment, which he said was a council matter, and outsourced services (transport, Clinix and cafeteria).
