The year 2017 closed with a successful Graduation held at the Nairobi Campus on 19th December, 2017 which saw 174 graduands awarded diplomas and degrees in various disciplines of academic pursuit.
The graduates represented five countries namely: Tanzania, South Africa, South Sudan, Malawi, and Kenya. This was the second time a mini graduation was held in December. Last year, the number of graduands more than doubled.
The event was attended by family members of the graduands, faculty, staff, board members, council members and other guests.
The Guest of Honor for the 40th Graduation Ceremony was Prof. Mary Murimi, Chancellor of Daystar University.
In her keynote address, Prof. Murimi urged the graduands to celebrate their achievements inspite of the unpleasant circumstances facing the University. She encouraged them to look ahead to what was coming and invited them to join the Alumni association as their first step.
“We are part of a big purpose. You are taking this membrant everywhere you go. Throw those stars everywhere [and] shine!”
Prof. Murimi thanked the graduands for bringing everyone to focus on an important milestone, growth of the University and education field.
In conclusion, she prayed the graduates well: ‘May your enemies be scattered as you go. Congratulations…’

As a Daystar unique tradition, the Ag. VC Prof. Kombo led graduands to take the Daystar pledge as they sang ‘I Pledge Allegiance to the Lamb’, led by the Afrizo band.
