Call to harness social media opportunities by Robert Burale
Mr. Robert Burale, an image consultant, motivational speaker, and actor, public relations and marketing strategist, on 11th October 2017 gave a talk to Communication students, at the ICT theatre, Athi River Campus dubbed, ‘Harnessing Social Media Opportunities’.
Speaking to the students, Mr. Robert Burale cautioned them that they are the future of this country and that everything they upload on social media is a reflection of who they are. “The content you upload today will hunt you years to come, because the Internet never forgets. Some of you have planted seeds of unemployment just because of what you have uploaded,” he went on to say.
He further noted that before one controls social media one must be sure of his or her own identity. “Your identity comes with having values that you can stand for, not only privately but also through what you share on social media.’’
This was a class project by a group of students taking Com 473 (Public Relations Management and Research). “We opted for Mr. Burale because we felt that he is an expert in the field of social media. In fact he won the Facebook Personality of the Year 2015,” said Mercy Oyolo, Communication major student.
In a world where social media is growing rapidly, it was a wake-up call for Daystar University students to harness social media opportunities and use them wisely.
