New Partnership Established in Rwanda
The Daystar Resource Mobilization team was at the East Wind Christian Center in Rwanda to market Daystar at an Evangelistic meeting from July 28th – 30th 2017. The mission was made possible courtesy of Zion City Church in Arusha, an offshoot of the Kigali-based church. Zion City Church has a structured relationship with Dasystar University through which it has offered two (2) one-year scholarships to two Kenyan and Tanzanian students.
The team spent Friday establishing partnership with the new Church while Saturday focused on the Evangelistic
meeting, beginning with an open session where Daystar shared about the University and had time to distribute brochures as well as application forms.
Later in the day, Bishop John Shumbusho from Arusha Zion City Church was present to introduce the Daystar team before he inviting Afrizo to perform. “These are Daystar staff who have found the secret about God and are here to share through music”.
Afrizo staged a 3-hour non-stop worship session through music to a 4,000 strong audience that had come to inquire about Daystar. Soon after the performance, a throng of people surged in large numbers to where the Daystar team was, many interested in joining Daystar.
The last day Afrizo led Sunday praise and worship in Church where Bishop Shumbusho was preached and strongly endorsed Daystar University, recommending it to all parents and the youth. The team was also went on air on Royal TV and 94.3 Royal FM on Sunday.
The team ended its Kigali mission with a reconnection meeting with Daystar’s Alumni in Rwanda. They all picked Daystar brochures and committed to be ambassadors in Rwanda. The alumni requested Daystar to appoint
a person at the University to help process applications for Rwandese students seeking clearance by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) before admission to Daystar. This will help bring more students when they know there is someone to assist in making the application process smoother.
This was the beginning of a partnership that will continue to grow and we look forward to having more Rwandese coming to Daystar University.
