Michael Kiura Kirumbu is a born again Christian.I have been lecturing in the university for the last 14 years. I began teaching 2002 at the university of Nairobi school of engineering as a tutorial fellow I later joined Kiriri women university as a full time lecturer. While at Kiriri, I started reviewing the curriculum for the mathematics.

I served Kiriri Women’s University for 3 years as per my contract then renewed on August 2007. While at Kiriri women’s University, I was contacted by Strathmore University, Centre for ICT, to teach Mathematics and statistics where I served until 2009.

Currently I am a lecturer at Daystar University (Full time) teaching/lecturing mathematics subjects to all levels to; Pre University, Undergraduate and Post graduate (COM 302  Statistics for communication & research writing and COM 613 Graduate research writing).

I joined daystar in August 2008. Upon joining Daystar, I was tasked on developing the Mathematics curriculum which I completed within six months. Though it was shelved by the university because of lack of enough students, pioneer students will be graduating by June 2017.

Seminar /Workshop Attended/Publications

  • January 2016: Developed a paper on “Trust in social network using singular value”. The paper has been sent to journal – “Interdisciplinary Description of Complex Systems” for publication.

  • 23rd June 2008: Strathmore Academic Staff Workshop on how to deliver to student efficiently.

  • 26th March 2008: I represented Kiriri Women University in Stakeholder forum for the University at Kenya Institute of Education

  • April 2006: I represented Kiriri women’s University Vice chancellor to “Vice Chancellors’ workshop on placement/ Attachment”. This workshop was organized by Directorate of Industrial Training at School of Monetary Studies.

JAN 2001- DEC 2001

I was working for World food Program (WFP) through Catholic Church, Diocese of Embu. We were receiving food from Mombasa warehouse, preparing distribution plan and distributing food within Mbeere district. During phase II of the same project, I was involved on monitoring the implementation of the projects


JULY 1996- DEC 1996

I was employed as untrained Teacher under B.O.G of Mayori Secondary School where I was tasked on Teaching Physics and mathematics.

Community Development/Activities

Dec 2011

As a servant leadership, I Initiated construction of a community day-Secondary School where I school at primary level –Rugogwe primary school situated at Embu county, Gachoka constituency Mbeere south District. The school I chair the Board of Management is called Rugogwe Mixed Day Secondary School). With God’s favour, I have succeeded in looking for funds to a tune of Ksh.6,700,000. (CDF-1,000,000;Northen & Semi-arid area of Kenya Ministry- 2,700,000 & Germany Embassy-3,000,000).


July - 2012

Wrote a successful proposal to Rural Electricity Authority (REA) that saw a 9km line constructed to the above school at a cost of Ksh. 10,200,000.
